Rue Morgue is a Canadian magazine that specifically focuses on a 'Horror' genre in the field of Culture and Entertainment. It as founded by Editor-in-chief Rodrigo Gudino in 1997. It got its name from Edgar Allan Poe's short story-'The murders in Rue Morgue.'
Rue morgue was published every other month for a number of years until January 2005 where it was decided it would be changed to 11 issues per year, excluding February. It is now distributed in Canada, it reached Distribution in the USA in January 1999. By 2006, it closed its direct distribution deal for Europe. This magazine is also available in New Zealand, Australia and Asia by import. Though it finds its way to Mexico and Brazil.
Rue Morgue covers horror in all media: films, books, websites, comic books, music, etc. Each issue includes feature stories, opinion columns, and numerous reviews. Its online presence includes an award-winning weekly broadcast called Rue Morgue Radio.
After researching other film magazines in the horror genre, I found Rue Morgue really excelled from the rest. Other magazines such as; fangoria, had a more amateur look compared to Rue Morgue which is in my opinion of a much higher standard. Therefore, I decided to research recent covers and analyse their techniques so I can therefore incorporate them into my own magazine.
